Would it be better to purchase 6 at a time? Another blog is recommending that....

If you use your POST catalina for another post purchase will another CAT print? I know that at Walgreens it won't, and I didn't know how albies works. Thanks

This is how 6 boxes would run.
6 boxes cereal x $1.67=$10.02
-$3 ($1/2 coupons)
=$7.02
plus get a $5 OYNSO catalina
making it a total of $2.02 for 6 boxes! Which comes out to $0.40 per box.

Ms. JoAnn....Walgreen's does work this way but Albertson's does not. So you should be fine to roll your catalina's over and over and still get your $5 cats to print.

Ms. JoAnn, you can use your post catalinas in subsequent orders. Albertsons isn't like Walgreens in this regard. Just roll over your one post CAT to the next transaction.. . and keep going. . . and going. . .

Heather Wheeler said...

It will be about $.33 when you buy 6 or $.27 when you buy 5

Yes, you can "roll" your Catalina's. If you use one, another Catalina will print.

Good Luck!

We were all posting at the same time!! :)

The Catalina - are these things for money off groceries like at Walgreens or coupons for something random or coupons for more cereal? Another blog made it sound like they were coupons, didn't know for what though.

Heather Wheeler said...

Lindsay- A Catalina is a coupon that prints at the register. When you buy 5 cereals it will be for $5 off your next order, so basically like Albertson's Cash.

Emily said...

Right, but the coupons are $1/2, so you would have to buy 6 in order to use 3 coupons, right?

Emily said...

I see, so if you buy 5 and only use 2 $1/2 coupons: 1.67 x 5 = 8.35, minus 2 $1/2 coupons, factor in $5 OYNSO catalina = 1.35 for 5 boxes, or .27 per box.

If you buy 6 and use 3 $1/2 coupons: 1.67 x 6 = 10.02, minus 3 $1/2 coupons, factor in $5 cat = 2.02, or .33 per box.

So it really is a better deal to buy 5 and not use as many coupons. Thanks for letting me talk that out! It makes more sense now!

Does anyone know which specific cereals the catalina offer is for? I saw the list of cereals on sale for 1.67, but are they the only ones that will activate the catalina, or will buying any kind of post cereal get you the deal? For instance, will the trail mix crunch (that we got the $2/1 printables for) be included in the cat offer?

Hey Heather - I just posted a breakdown at fabulessly frugal. After looking at alb's ad which is up on their site now, I saw that the cereal is $1.57/box when you buy 2. If you only buy one (like your 5th box) the price is $2.07. So, it is less expensive to buy 6. (Unless you have a bunch of the -$2/1 IPs to use for the 5th box.) Let me know if my math is wrong!

Does the printable 2$/1 work for this deal. The coupon is more than the cereal. I imagine that flavor will be gone, will they still give you the deal if you get a rain check. Is it ok to print more than one internet coupn? Wow I have a lot of questions, when is your next class?

Heather Wheeler said...

This sale last 10 days, so if you stay up on going and checking inventory you should get everything you need. The $2/1 coupon should work, even if they just have to manually enter it in for the amount of the cereal.
If you get a rain check it will be good for the sales price but not for the $5 Catalina.
You can print 2 per computer...
Hope this Helps!

So the sale lasts 10 days from today, Sunday the 29th??

Just came from Albertsons. You do not need to buy 6 boxes for the price per box to work out right as someone had suggested. I checked this with the cashier first.
I went to the Albertsons at Cherry/Ten Mile & they had plenty of cereal in stock. They have a ton out in the grocery cart area of the store.
FYI though, they are out of the Ball Park hot dogs though.

I just got back from Alb's on Eagle/McMillan and wanted to give you all a heads up. On my second & third transactions, the cereals were only ringing in at $2.07 -- even though I was buying them in quantities of 2, the extra $1 per pair of cereals didn't come off (this $1 off 2 comes off at at end of transaction). When I pointed it out to the cashier they were able to manually take it off. Just watch the transaction and be aware that they're having this issue... they think it might be that it's only allowing the sale once per preferred number... but the ad doesn't limit us, so it's a glitch somewhere. Bottom line for me is 17 boxes of cereal for $.17 each. Sweeeeeet!

I was at the same store this morning, and it was taking the $2 off just fine. Weird.

I tried to print that coupon off in Internet Explorer (because it said it was incompatible with Firefox) and it said, "INternal error processing your request. Just wondered if anyone else is getting the same error. I'm so bummed.

Hey , just wondering I just called the albies on McMillian/Ealge, they said they won't take the Selects Post coupon any more because they don't carry it, even though it will scan it. They said that the coupon has to match the cereal you buy or it's fraud. They said a memo came this morning, so this morning they took mine, but said they won't any more. And that the coupon has to match exactly with the item you are buying, has anyone else heard this or can tell me more?

Michelle said...

richelle,
did you mean they won't take the Post Trail Mix coupon? I didn't see that product on their shelves, so I would understand them saying that.

Amber said...

Has anyone else other than Richelle had a problem with the Post Selects coupon? If so, please let me know. I just bought 20 of them on eBay and if they won't work, well, I just wasted my money. Has anyone used some today and if so, which store took them? THANKS!!

Ryan & Martha said...

I'm wondering the same thing. McMillan/Eagle has instructed all cashiers to only take what the coupon says. I'd love to know where I can take the ones I have as well.

Julee said...

does anyone know if any of the stores still have a good selection of cereal? I was at Ustick/5-Mile today and they have virtually NONE.

Julee said...

Ustick/5-Mile did have a few of the Selects and did accept the selects coupon for them.

I went to Ustick and 5mile today and the guy was there with tons of boxes of cereal...it was all over the store. Also found the same at Eagle/Mcmillian had a good selection also. The Albies on Eagle Mcmillian does not carry the Trail Mix cereal. The Ustick/5mile had a spot for it, but were sold out of that one only

Heather. I figure someones asked this question but i can't find it anywhere! Yes or no. Can you use the post trail mix crunch coupon if it's not part of the deal?
