Albertson's Update

I just went to my Albertson's (in Emmett) and here are a few updates.

Remember last week when you could buy 2 Lysol Wipes and Get Free Eggs ($2 off), well that deal is still good (through April14) and the wipes are 50% off!! So, you buy 2 wipes for $1.64 each, get a dozen medium eggs ($1) Use 2 $1/1 Lysol Wipes from 3/15 and your total out of pocket will be $.28!!!

Also, my Albertson's has the Welch's Aqua Juice on sale for $2.50, go here to see how to get it for under $1 a piece!

In the clearance section of my store they had a basket of the no nonsense tights for $1, Use your $1/1 from 3/29 and get FREE Nylons!

Also, my friend and KCL author Anna mentioned that they had Secret Deodorant on clearance for $.99, Use your $1/1 from 3/15 and get FREE deodorant!!!

Last thing- I was able to buy $50 worth of Kraft/Unilever products and $20 came off before my cashier rang up my meat... I'm Just Saying......

Yes, but I only bought 2 lbs of chicken (one lb for each of my $25 transactions) I know, I know- I'm a high roller!

I have to just say that I am SOOO annoyed. I typically go the Albertson's on Gary & State. They have always treated me fairly and never given me any grief about coupons. Well, last night, I went to the Albertson's on Five Mile & Ustick because I was near it for another function. Big mistake!

I had $31.26 worth of meat and $76.50 worth of the products that qualified for the $10 off deal(along with several other items). About $300 worth of groceries (before savings/coupons). The cashier made me ring up 3 different transactions so that he could take $10 off each. Well, he didn't do it right, so my last transaction didn't have the $10 come off AND because he had me do 3 different transactions, I didn't save as much with my 5% savings certificates (I had 2). Then, I had 30 cans of Del Monte vegetables/fruit/tomatoes. I should have received 3x$2 instant savings. Of course, that didn't work either because he rang one of the cans through with the first transaction instead of with the rest of the cans. Of course, I didn't notice all this until I started looking over my receipt when I got home. I probably paid $20-$25 more than I should have for everything. I could just kick myself for not paying closer attention to what he was doing.

Lesson learned: Watch everything that rings up and check the receipt before I leave the store...and stick with the Albertson's I know. Ugh!

Head's up about the Lysol deal--if you buy three DIFFERENT wipes (they must have different UPC's), you can send in (see Lysol.com) for the $3 rebate, and actually MAKE money on wipes/eggs.

Tricia- That is SO frustrating. If I were you I would be really, really tempted to take it all back and have them ring it up the way you want...That is a lot of money!

So on a B1G1, you can use another coupon? I didn't think you could. Good to know. Also, I was at Wal-Mart today (PS, the Target tip on finding a young male cashier and talking nicely to him SO worked for me today at Wal-Mart...no, I didn't flirt with him, he just asked me if it was still raining and I went on about the eternal winter we're having) ANYWAY, they didn't have the Dove soap for 1.97, it was 2.48. Has anyone in Canyon County found this yet? Which Wal-Mart? Thanks!

How did you get the juice for under $1 I can't figure that one out?

Speaking of the $20.00 coming off before your meat was rung up (that you were just sayin' - you're so funny!)...my BFF shopped at Albertson's last night and got her $10.00 off without buying ANY meat. So I waddled on in this afternoon, expecting to get the same deal.

I bought 4 bottles ALL detergent($15.96), 1 Kraft Parmesan ($3.99) and 3 peanut butters ($6.00) which equals $25.95 before tax. I also bought liquid BIZ, eggs and a bag of candy, but they were on top of the $25.96 in promotional items. I let her ring it all up and then scan my Albertson's card. Then the coupons (4 x $2 off ALL, $2 off BIZ and 4 x $.40 off peanut butter).

I waited for my $10 to come off, and no dice. She added another peanut butter to see if I was just shy of the $25 mark, and no dice. By this time the line behind me is REALLY long and my brain is stuck in neutral. Thankfully the checker is one I know well and she's a doll.

My transaction was put in suspense mode while I saw the lady in Customer Service. She said I had to buy the meat to get the $10.00 off. I went and got the meat and then I got the $10.00 off.

I'm not a newbie at this by any means. Either my coupons messed up my $10 off, or...they changed their computers sometime after my friend did her shopping. If you see where I went wrong, please let me know :).

And finally, I got all the way home and discovered I had left my precious coupon binder in the baby seat of the cart! Luckily it was still there!

Good times....

That is strange because I was there last night and my checker said you get ten off no matter what! It's a credit you get for purchasing the products and you can fill it with $10 of meat. I wish it was a little more consistant....

I got $60 off my total instantly tonight before I bought any meat (I did get a $20 ham, but left it to ring up last, as soon as I was sure my discount came off). And I used a TON of coupons--so I'm not sure why your didn't come off automatically. That's so frustrating!

Also, picturing your coupon binder all alone in your shopping cart--I felt like I was working into a panic attack just thinking about it! So glad it was still there! Do you know I have left my wallet in my cart twice now, and luckily, it's been there both times. SO lucky, but I think I would actually feel worse about losing my coupons! Credit cards I can replace, but coupons? Priceless! ;)

For all you coupon virgins out there... It really helps to do like Emily and ring everything from the promo first. Then give your checker your preferred card and watch the register to make sure the $10's come off. Today I went and bought $50 worth of participating products and did that, and only one $10 came off- well when I looked closer my total before tax was $49- so I had my checker add in one more product and then immediately the other $10 came off. Then she rang in the meat, and then the other groceries that I had.
The more organized you are at the check out the smoother it will go, and you will be able to catch mistakes easier, either on your part (like not being able to count to 50) :) or on the part of the checker.
Then at the very end is usually when I give my checkers the coupons- unless they want them sooner. Hope this helps!

And in regards to the meat and whether you have to buy it or not- technically the promo is to encourage butcher block sales- so it is up to the individual stores to decide if they want to enforce it or not. Horrible for consistency- but their choice! :)

Tammy- The Juice is on sale for $2.50 and then there is a coupon on our coupons.com bar (under the header) for B1G1 Free which means 2 for $2.50- and then there is a manufacturer coupon for $.75/1 that you can use one of. Making it $1.75 for 2. I fixed the link on the post- so it should take you to my original post- and check the comments of that post to.

Thank you all for the info and suggestions. Last Tuesday night this same checker let me use the double coupons four separate times. So I really can't get TOO upset with my Albertsons.

Leaving the coupon binder in the cart was certainly an adrenaline rush. Emily described it perfectly - panic attack! I only had to sit through one red light enroute back to the store and I had to take deep breaths through my nose and remind myself it wasn't like I left my child in the cart!

Okay, so we went to Alb last night, thinking we had our brains all wrapped around it, and I think we ended up more confused, AARG. But we got $10 off our $25 without buying any meat, we found the Aqua Juice, and got our 2-10%. Is the Kraft deal the same as the meat deal?
