A little Albertson's Water Cooler Talk

Okay Ladies, I have a big confession!
I haven't even been to Albertson's yet this week!!
Ahh, I feel so guilty even typing it!
So, I am wondering... How has it been? Have you all scored?
Are the stores running low on certain items?
I need all the juice!
It's kind of sad, when I feel like I am gossiping about an Albertsons Promo....
You guys are the best!

I went to the Albertsons on Five Mile and Overland only to find out you cannot do multiple transactions and they even told me I could not come back the same day and use more double coupons. They said you can only use 3 a day and thery were rude about it! I will not be going back to that Albertsons again! I was very frustrated at how rude they were.

I live in Pocatello, but went to the sale yesterday @ our Albertsons. Definitely worth it...$152 worth of groceries for $37!!! I just did the general mills sale--and there are extra coupons on the products themselves, too. (I found some on frosting and grands biscuits.) And my neighbor (in her first couponing experience) spent $110 and saved $250!!! It's definitely worth it!

I know, I don't understand the rudeness. I have also had bad experiences at one Albertson's in Idaho Falls. They don't realize that hundreds of us that coupon would not otherwise shop at Albertson's without these sales. Before I couponed, I only shopped at Walmart and Winco. Albertsons benefits from these sales, it brings in so much traffic and clears their shelves, thus allowing more product to flow and that's what keeps their doors open. I wish I could politely say that to checkers who are so clearly annoyed with couponers.

I have also had terrible experiences at Walgreen's here and have still not gone back. It's the same story there, why would they insult or be rude to couponers when it's good for their business? The upper eschelons of management know it's good for business, they know that catalinas and register rewards BRING PEOPLE BACK. But sometimes the checkers in the trenches don't see the big picture.

I am always polite and efficient with my couponing, and most of us that I've seen are the same. There are some bad apples, but even factoring that in, stores very much benefit, especially in an economy like this.

So, I just look at it this way...
Manufacturer's print coupons and make IP's available...WHY? Because they WANT me to use them. Stores offer doublers and killer sales because they WANT me to come in and spend my money. So I vow that a grumpy checker will no longer defeat my cheerfulness :)

I had a similar experience at the 5 mile/Overland store. The front end checker told me that I could only use three/day even though it states on the coupon that it was 3 per shopping trip. She also told me I was taking advantage of the program because I choose to have multiple subscriptions of the paper. I was so frustrated that I left and then thought to call the manager. The manager stated his policy was that we could use three doublers at once and then must leave the store and come back in to use more. I asked him to please let his front end know. I don't know if I will return to that location because they are not very customer service oriented, but I do suggest that you ALWAYS ask for the manager when you are not being treated well. (Or call after you leave the store) That is the only way things will change. I also have made it my policy that when I get treated very well by a cashier, to also call the manager and let them know how wonderful they were and how I love to shop at their store!!

us the the self check -outs at albertsons. I don't get any grief

I use the self check out at albertsons. When its double coupon day I scan the 3 coupons, write the $ amt on the doublers and hand them to the observor-checker. I also tell him/her that I wrote the $ amt on the doubler and have already scanned and entered the said coupon. No problems.

I’ve noticed that the cashiers are willing to do multiple transactions early in the morning or AFTER the 5-7 rush. Tuesday night on Eagle Road I did 3 transactions and then my husband did 3 right behind me. The cashier was very helpful and nice about us doing it back to back. She told us she was glad we didn't try to do this at 5 or 6, so they really do appreciate us taking that into consideration.

On the other side, I've also had a particular cashier at the Albes on Cherry who was very rude to me about using so many coupons (this was before the doubles sale) so the cashiers personality is always a factor. I live the same distance between the Eagle Road and Cherry Lane store but guess what store I never go into anymore.....

I went Wed. morning to the McMillan/Eagle Albertsons and had a good experience. They were very well stocked for the sale, and my cashier was GREAT!!

The only downfall was that some JERK/IDIOT/COUPON WRECKER decided it would be a great idea to steal all (and I do mean ALLLLL) the peelies that were on almost every single box of GM cereal. I had gone in Tuesday night to redeem the last of my doublers, and was very excited to see that on almost every single box of cereal there was a $1/2 peelie. Well, by 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday - they were completely gone. Not just off of the front boxes, but off all of them. I made a comment to the guy changing price tags, and he agreed that it is SOOOO wrong and he hopes someday he can catch whoever does that. I was extremely frustrated! Who would do that??? I just can't believe some people! I wish the coupon-jerks would quit ruining it for all the rest of us. PLEASE STOP - YOU'RE GIVING US ALL A BAD NAME!! (just had to vent)

I went to Albertson Wednesday morning and ended up with some killer deals. The manager at my Albies had extra coupons for a the 2-liters, making them $57 each! He also had coupons for the General Mills cereal which gave me an extra $2 off plus another coupon that gave me a free box of fruit snack for every three boxes of cereal I bought. I also had some great coupons for $3 off the Kashi pizzas (the coupons were in ther freezer section about a month ago). With the Kashi deal that was running, I was able to get the pizzas for about $.99. I also bought 10 packages of the keebler cookies which were on sale for $1.97, there were extra coupons on the cookies, giving me an extra $5 off plus a catalina printed for 2 free movie tickets. I think I scored.

Sorry, should have read that the 2-liters were $.57 not $57 :)

This sale is GREAT. I just bought 48 items and spent $6.34 OOP, Yippee for me!
Also a heads up, this came from corporate that they will only allow 3 transactions per customer, then you will have to get back into line. Also when they have doublers you can only use 1 set at a time and then get back into line. All the checkers had to sign a form stating they would keep the rules. All Albertsons should be keeping to this standard. In past the rule has been in place but not enforced. It will be enforced now, I'm told.
Plan ahead and don't have a cart full with more than 3 transactions, the checkers don't want to be the bad guy and you won't want to get frustrated either. Pass the word along.

I went last night to the Nampa one on Greenhurst-I had been feeling a little frustrated because they have been out of everything when I go (and 3 other albertsons I've gone to) but they were stocked up and I saved $130!! I had like $22 in coupons and was able to get SO much stuff for $72 (I'm fairly new at this so I was really excited). Stocked up on frosting, muffin mix, warm delights, bagelfuls and green giant steamers-among other things. I didn't do the cereal promotion because the only healthy cereal was plain cheerios. Oh well, next time! I notice they do the sweet cereals on sale a lot more than the healthier ones.
Have fun shopping!!

Heather,
I just got back and had $291.96 worth of stuff and spent $66.00 YAY for me! I only got the Kraft sale stuff and made sure I had coupons to match everything I purchased. Went to Albies on Eagle/MacMillan and they were super nice.

Well I had decided not to do the Genreal Mills sale b/c my doublers wore me out on Monday but after two days of rest I actually looked at the ad. And it was a good one. So I matched up my coupons and spent $24 for a bill that was over $60. This is the first time I have planned my list to the penny and had a coupon for every single item in my cart. It was so worth it!

I went to the Overland/5 mile store and did two transactions back to back with the double coupons. The guy was rude but he said he was the only one who would let me get a way with it.

I went back today to do the huge shop and it was great. The check out lady, Dani, was so fun and the lady in front of me was a first time couponer and Dani was really nice to her too. I bought some things I didn't have coupons for but it was fine. I spent $85 and saved $150 so I was happy with that.
KCL is the greatest. Thank you so much for your help in saving us money!!!

I went to the Fairview and Cole store and the cashier told me only 3 doubles per trip and that I needed to come back later. I went to the Ustick and 5 mile store and they were more than willing to help me I even did more than three doubles and the cashier there said that was fine.

My FAVORITE store is Fairview and Cole. The cashier named Darci Barnes in the very best. She has helped me many times through multiple transactions, she is smart and knows just what to do when a catalina doesn't print. She is genuinely happy to see how much I saved.

I went to Albies today and took advantage of the Conagra and the Betty Crocker sales. I had coupons for almost all the Betty Crocker stuff. The best part was using a a 10 percent off my entire purchase coupon at the very end. Thanks for all the couponing hints. I love this blog.

Niki- That is too bad that you have had bad experiences at Walgreen's in Idaho Falls. I go there all the time and I have never had a bad experience. Maybe a few hiccups but pretty smooth sailing every week!

Hollie! Which Walgreen's do you go to? I would LOVE to know.

My Alb trip this week was not a good one. I was very excited for the doubles, but extremely busy this week and only had a couple of opportunities to use them. I had planned a trip for my lunch hr tues. I had researched the best coupons to combine with the $3 instant savings on $15 in purchases. My three coupons were all IP. My total was slightly over $15, which means I would have had $3 instant savings and $6 in coupons saving. However, after ringing up my purchase the cashier told me she couldn't accept "copied" coupons. I explained that they were original IP coupons, which I had just printed. She said they could only take them in color. I explained to her that I use them there ALL the time. She said it was a new policy and every cashier had to sign a statement saying they wouldn't accept them - ARGH! I had her cancel my entire order - there's a big difference between $12 and $6 - I asked for my coupons back and left. I was extremely frustrated I missed out on the opportunity to use the doubles and that I had wasted my lunch hr. I checked corporate policy. It states they accept IP coupons and no where mentions they must be colored. Curious to know if anyone else has had the same problems. I am from N Idaho and was at the Lewiston Alb. Now I'm trying to decide if I want to take a break from Alb - Safeway has had some good deals lately too and I have never had problems with IPs there.
