US BANK OFFER {$75 in FREE Groceries}

Thanks to Frugal Living NW for this heads up! A few months ago, US Bank was running this same promo- and my husband was skeptical so we didn't do it, but Joanie did it- and she received her money!!

Open a Free Checking Account with US Bank-
And Receive $75 in FREE Groceries!!!

1. Open a new free checking account before June 5 and deposit at least $50 into the account

2. Use your new U.S. Bank Visa Check Card (debit card) to buy up to $75 in non-PIN based purchases within 30 days of the new checking account opening. You can make multiple transactions.

3. Bring the receipt(s) into the branch where you opened the account by July 5. Your account will be credited the amount of your receipt(s).

4. One offer per household. You can't take advantage of this deal if you've received other U.S. Bank bonus offers in the past 6 months or if you have an existing U.S. Bank checking account.

5. Offer is Valid at Any US Bank Branch that is located in an Albertsons. To find a branch near you, go here.

FYI- They don't check your receipts- and you can make it real easy by just buying a Albertson's Gift Card for $75 (or Pottery Barn, or Ann Taylor Loft.... I think I am on to something there... then the husband is none the wiser!!)

My husband and I both did this and it worked great! I highly recommend doing this deal. AND our US Bank seems to be very nice and we'll probably use the account.

Just an FYI ... Beware.
When I did this deal in Feb. they opened a US Bank Credit Card in my name (along with my the debit card) ... I was very UNHAPPY! Apparently, the employees get bonus points for everything they get you to sign up for. I DID NOT approve the credit card and it was a pain to get it closed (which I am sure cost me point in my credit rating) ... the Manager was awesome once I reported it, however...it never should have happened in the first place. The most I got was an apology...not impressed with anyone messing with my credit...just beware.

I also did this deal in Feb. and it was easy at first. Then I had a little trouble with different tellers telling me I had to set up direct deposit in order to get the $75. I finally just went in to the branch and said I'd never been told that when I signed up for the account. At that time, they said that they're encouraged to get customers to sign up for direct deposit, but YOU DON'T HAVE TO FOR THE $75. Though it was a bit of a pain, I would do it again in a heartbeat! $75 in free groceries? And when you're getting 80-90% off anyway, that's more like $700 in free groceries you krazy ladies! My two cents would be to go for it!

The other "kicker" is that had I not gotten a phone call about a $40 annual fee on the credit card that they opened in my name, (which I knew nothing about) ... I would have been in a real mess. Just want to make sure no one else goes though what I went through with this deal...I am NOT sure it was worth it. (I spent ALOT of time on the phone clearing this up)
I will say though, that I do like the people at the US Bank branch that I am using and they have all been wonderful. I am just shocked that someone can click a button on a computer WITHOUT your permission and OPEN (not recomment, but OPEN) a card in your name. Scary.
Also - Joanie ~ I had the same trouble with the direct deposit thing, and after talking to a friend who works in banking...it turns out that these tellers get bonus points for everything they sign you up for, which is a bit scary and I am hoping that after my ordeal they are monitoring that more closely. Thanks for the post!!
(and a chance to vent, lol!)

I'd do it if I could get a Target or Gap GC.

Any Dave Ramsey fans out there? He would say NO! Stay with a local bank or credit union. Check out daveramsey.com for some great financial advice.

I would not recommend using US Bank. We've stuck with them for 5 years and over that time have had numerous hidden fees and they never compromise. Beware, free groceries may be nice, but that bank is a shady one!

FYI- We finally moved our accounts to a credit union!

I did this today, and it sounded like they had some problems with the groceries, so they had me deposit 75 and then they just matched the 75 and are going to directly deposit it into the account. It was pretty easy and free money is always worth it! They did say that you and your husband can sign up for separate accounts. Making it 150 for your family funds! I guess I'll cross my fingers and hope I don't have any future problems similar to the ones that have been posted!
