Albertsons Kraft Promo and Rebate Mix-Up: the 411

Thanks Utah Deal Diva for the following report!
Albertson's advertised several items as
being part of the
Kraft promo that are not on the "official" Kraft rebate list.

There are 2 versions of the rebate address floating around
and we still don't know which one is correct.

Jessica, of Utah Deal Diva spoke with Kraft and they confirmed that they WILL NOT honor a $20 rebate request if any of the items purchased are non-participating items.

The list below reflects the participating items and sizes. You can also print a copy here. Take a copy with you and very carefully make sure you get the correct items listed.

Here is a list of items that are on the Albertson's ad, but are unknown whether or not you'll receive the $20 mail-in rebate if you purchase them:

  • Nabisco Go Packs, $1
  • Kraft Chips Ahoy cookies, 16 oz variety
  • Kraft Grated Parmesan cheese, any variety
  • Velveeta 1lb or 2 lb blocks
  • Kraft Jell-O or Pudding, boxed variety (only 6-packs included)
  • Nabisco Honey Maid Bees, Smores or Morning Sticks variety crackers
  • Kraft Velveeta Shells & Cheese Dinner or Deluxe Macaroni & cheese, (anything over 7.25 oz)
  • Planters Mixed Nuts (only varieties 9.25 oz and over are included)
  • A-1 Steak Sauce, any varieties
  • General Food Intl Coffee Drink Mix

This is so deceiving! People who hadn't gotten the printout ahead of time will assume based on Albertson's ad that all the items are a part of the rebate. I think that is crazy!

The Kraft page is here: http://www.kraftfoods.com/kf/Products/supervalu.aspx

They have their own printable shopping list - (my link was http://www.kraftfoods.com/SiteCollectionImages/ImageRepository/BTS/ShoppingList.pdf) so at least you can plan ahead.

I already went and got my stuff, but bought the box Jello. Should I just return my whole purchase and start over? I used up my coupons too! How come the catalinas print if those items are not part of the promo?

There is also some confusion about whether coupons will void the rebate. In her post she said if it prints the coupons you used and what you used them for ( naming the item) then they will only accept 25 dollars AFTER coupons? How does it work here at albertsons? do we know if it is before or after coupons?

I really hope it is 25 before coupons...I just went today. Utah Deal Diva said that if your coupons print at the end of your receipt then they will take it before coupons. But if they print after each item then they will take it after coupons. But my question is what about if the coupons are listed at the end of each grocery section: meat, dairy etc. (Albertson's print that way)

Yikes-I wonder if it will matter much if we pay with a catalina too??? I am glad I am not doing my kraft deal until probably next week...wait it out to see what comes about.

My coupon values were always taken off at the end of the receipt; that's why I left out that info. I don't think that will be a problem for any Albies shoppers.

I was in such a hurry to get home I didn't even pay attention to the fact that I didn't get a catalina OR a coupon. I looked at my receipt again to make sure it did indeed add up to $25 of the product listed on the ad. Wish I had known before hand about the above info. The manager said according to corporate that if a customers catalina doesnt print out they are to take their name & info & they will be mailed to them. She couldn't give me a time frame, and I said well I hope it's before this rebate expires. I have a feeling that Albertsons is going to be forking over a lot of refunds out of their own pocket for false advertising. Someone in marketing wasn't paying close attention I guess. Thank you for posting this and I'll be sure to get the word out to my couponing friends.

if you purchase 25$ worth of products and you get you catalinas ( 5$ off and the rebate) then clearly the items you bought were included. the bar codes are set up to trigger the catalina if you had an item that was not in the sale ( say the cookies) then you would be 2.00 short and would not have met the requirements....right?

I purchased all items on the shopping list, except for a nabisco go pak for $1 ... because I wasn't thinking and assumed all that was on the ad was on the promotion, and the catalina and rebate form printed out, so wouldn't that mean that it doesn't matter since it's the manufacterer (not the store), that sets up the catalinas? All I know is that this is crazy!

I am really nervous because I already did my shopping and got 2lb of velveeta instead of 1lb. Albertsons employee told me if there was a kraft promo sign in front of the product it would work. My total was 24 dollars after coupons and I got the cat, and the rebate form. The lady who didn't get either... my cashier had me waite an extra minute or two because she said the machine is really slow for some reason...

When it says Oscar Mayer meat
(10 oz) does it mean hot dogs?

The Deal's said...

Samiam- It is Oscar Mayer Deli Meat 10 oz. select varieties. (I have my ad right in front of me)

Just a tip for anyone who bought "controversial" items like I did (the velveeta bricks)...maybe hold onto the rebate voucher and reciept for a bit, maybe Albs will help us out.
Hey Krazies, Heather and Joanie, do you have a way to ask Albs if they would maybe give us a $20 voucher of some kind, perhaps in trade for the rebate form/receipt for a $20 catalina?
The rebate has to be recieved at the clearinghouse by Sept 6, so we could wait until Aug 31 to send it in and still make it...

The catalina machine was very slow when I did this deal also. I'd be tempted to send in the albertsons add along with receipt and items circled. Or, take in to albertsons customer service and explain what happened and see what they offer to do.

seems everyone is worrying and there is no confirmation that it doesnt work!! I think when someone actually gets something saying that their rebate was not valid because they had the wrong items then I would worry about "making albies pay" or trying to get albertsons to give an "alternative solution" in exchange for their catalina rebate. im sure people have already sent theirs in since this actually started on like monday even though it was not in the add till weds, I will post as soon as I get or dont get the rebate since I had two transactions with "right" items and 1 with "controversial" items....wait and see, now

I also used a coupon for almost every item and had no trouble at all getting the catalinas to print even though my total was only like 15.oo for each item:-)

Before I doit maybe someone can verify my plans will work fine, I was planning on getting 5 boxes of Ritz @ 2.50 and then 5 wheat thins also at 2.50 but have coupons to make them FREE so for 12.50 OOP I'll make 12.50 profit in the end does anyone see a reason this won't work at my local Albies in Boise

Went today, bought over $25 in qualifying items only to find out that....Albertsons stores in Arizona, Colorado, Texas, Louisiana, New Mexico and Florida and Cub stores in Ohio are not participating in the "Save $25 on Groceries" promotion.

Cut and pasted from the Kraft website....SILLY ME FOR NOT READING CAREFULLY BEFORE I SPENT!
