My not-so-nightmarish Albertson's trip

Okay, so first I have to say a big THANKS to all you awesome KCL's...I had family in town this week and was a little frazzled and unorganized for my Albertson's trip today, and forgot my Skippy coupons. I ran into another KCL, Sarah, in the store and she was SOOO nice and offered to give me her coupons because she didn't need them (thanks Sarah). She was so sweet. And, most of the KCL's I meet are sooo nice. So, kudos to you all.

Second, right after I'm done posting on here, I'm going to Albertson's website and giving a ton of positive feedback about my Albertson's and the people that work there. They are SO awesome and helpful and I think that it's a great idea to give stores positive feedback (so often people only give feedback on a negative experience). So, just a reminder to give your stores good feedback if you had a good experience.

Third, I heard that there was a great deal with Dove soap where it included 2 promotions. Just wanted to let you know, it didn't work with the Dove soap. The 6 packs work with the spend $30 get a $12 cat, the 2 pack bars work with the spend $30 get $15 cat back. But, they don't work with both. It really was quite a nightmare and took forever doing transactions and then returns, but my Albie's was SOO SOO nice about it. BUT, the Q-tips 375 count DO work with both promos (at least at my store), so if you buy $30 worth of Q-tips, you can get a $12 and a $15 cat back (thanks Robin).

I went to one Albies today and the Qtips were gone - - I need a store that still has some....like the Ragu - - I don't think anyone can get a jar of Ragu in this town right now - ROTFL

I LOVE LOVE LOVE my Albertsons. Everyone for the most part is so great when you come in with coupons, and they ALWAYS have items in stock, and if they dont, they usually substitute it for another item and accept all coupons!!

They are soo wonderful, and I get soo spoiled that when I go to other Albertsons I forget that not everyone is as nice as the employees at mine!!! LOL ( I love how I claim my stores)

Thank you KCL for the reminder to send them praise. I think I might just write them a nice letter and have it sent to the store director!!

the 300ct and 500 ct qtips also work for both promos!

LaToya Dieter said...

Which Albies still has Qtips left....?

maygan said...

...the dove soap! It's not the bar soap, it's the large bottles of Dove shampoo and conditioner that work for both promos (allowing you to double dip). it'll work until the 9th- spend $30 before q's and get back $27, before any coupons!

I went to Nampa 12th Ave. Albies and bought the 500 ct. Q-tips. It was like pulling teeth just to get the $12 in cats. It printed a $7 but nothing else. I guess I was too tired to fight for the $15 after just trying to get the $5. Should I have gotten the $15, too? Is there a UPC list that I can check so I know if I need to go back and do some pressing. It was late and I was very disappointed that they were out of basically everything, so I took my Q-tips and left.

I just did the Q-tips deal at my albertsons in Meridian and yes I got the $15 cat coupon for the $30 promo plus another $12 cat coupon for a unilever promo. Thanks KCL

I'm still a little new to couponing. The Dove, Degree, and Suave items that were in last weeks ad for this promo are not in the new ad. Does that mean they aren't included or they're just not listed in the new ad. The q-tips aren't in the ad either. My head is spinning a little here. Any help is appreciated! :)
Thanks!

I think that even though it is not pictured in the new ad they ARE still part of it. I just did the Q-tips today and I was afraid too and just prepared to return if it did not work but it worked. I know it can be confusing... right sizes and combination. I messed up a few times in the beginning.

Alysia, I was so excited to open my KCL email and see that I was mentioned in a post! I'm glad it worked out for you, and I hope you are now peanut buttered up for the foreseeable future.

I don't know what's wrong with my Albertsons, there's a lot of mean people there! Today I said something to the cashier about it being so nice to get such great deal and she said,"I'll just keep my mouth shut on that subject!"

LaToya Dieter said...

CHELSIE - you and I must shop at the same Albies - LOL They are just so mean there.

Five mile and overland has q-tips - I bought 4 - 375 count and got an extra $3 catalina along with the $15 (I did this tonight around 7:30) - they also had Ragu and just a couple skippy peanut butters - I got two more natural skippy and got another $1 off catalina for that as well!

LaToya Dieter said...

MAYGAN - so the Dove shampoo...how much is it on the shelf....and how much do we have to buy to get the $15 and $12..... - - it's not pictured in the ad, right?

Thrifty Queen said...

Glenwood and State just stocked up on Q-tips and Dove products. I just talked with Jeff. Also you can buy 10 500 count Q-tip for $3.00 each and get $27 back also. Worked last night @ Eagle and Mcmillian. You actually get more for your $ this way. But, like you need more than 5000 Q-tips!! It's great!!

The Barkers said...

Just a thought. I think the extra catalinas on the dove promo end today. But the Albies promo doesn't end until Sat. So they just took those things out of the picture so there isn't any confusion come friday when people don't get as much back in catalinas as they were thinking. That is just what a cashier mentioned... It is so hit and miss with cashiers. I just stick with the ones I know and like! I wonder if she would have said that if a manager was around! ha! That is awful. Just remember that there are lots of nice, patient cahiers out there. They seem to make up for the sour apples:) Thanks for all the comments! It has helped so much with not going insane with this promo! All you ladies (of course Heather and Joanie included) are awesome!

The Barkers said...

Oh and I like how todays add was much clearer in what was part of the promo! I wonder if those managers feel silly for saying that the All,knorr sides, ect were not part of the promo!!

cjphoto2 said...

The Dove is included until the 8th for the spend $30 get $15 promo. The ad that came out Saturday says, 7 Days of Savings 8/2-8/8. Does anybody know when the spend $30 get $12 on the Dove and Q-tips stuff ends?

Kristi M. said...

The Caldwell stadium store had a pile of cases of Qtips there. The manager also mentioned that they are getting more Ragu, refrigerated things, knorr/lipton sides, basically everything in tonight and on the shelves tomorrow. The refrigerated stuff comes in later. He did mention that the suave products did not come in. They were not able to get any yet.

On one of these blogs, someone mentioned that the nampa greenhurst store got like 500 cases of Qtips. They are super stocked.

LaToya Dieter said...

My Albies - the one that I abhor - stocked up on the Q-tips...they had BUNCHES this morning....I was scared to try it, but it worked! 10 packs of the Q-tips got me $27 in Catalina - wooooooooo!!

NOW -- I NEED DETAILS on the DOVE - - what exactly and how much of it do I need to get to score the $27 again? I'm confused on this one as these aren't listed on the promo for this week - - thanks!

Ashley said...

I would love to hear from people who have actually done the spend $30 get $27 back on the Dove/Q-tip scenario! anyone?

Terry said...

I haven't done the $30 in q-tips only, but did spend $10 on the q-tips and got a $3 catalina (along with the $15). I believe the options are spending $10 for $3 back, $20 for $7 back, and $30 for $12 back. So - if you spend $30 on the q-tips you will get the $12 catalina and if they are the one's that are part of the other promo - the $15 as well. I bought the 375-count as they had the sign in front of them so I knew they were part of the $2/5 deal. I am still stocked up from costco on q-tips and now my 4 more packs - but I am very tempted to swing by today and try just doing the q-tips for the $27 back - that is just insane!

LaToya Dieter said...

ASHLEY - yes, this is what I did this morning....bought 10 Q-Tips on the promo...cost was $30...used my $15 Catalina to pay....paid $16 OOP...got $27 back in Catalinas.

LaToya Dieter said...

TERRY - LOL @ this is insane...my husband is going crazy wondering where the heck to put all this stuff...the pantry and the overflow was already full...and then I brought in 103 jars of Ragu (bought 121 but gave 18 to my mom - see how nice I am :) )....and that's just that...then there's the cereals...the pastas...and now all the Q-Tips....; gonna try the All stuff today too - - ohhh I love it!!

alysia said...

Yeah, I wanna know who has tried the Dove scenario. My Albertson's employees are so nice, but I don't want to push my luck by trying scenario after scenario and not having it work...kindness surely can only go so far :) Hee hee. I have done the Q-tip scenario and it worked. I bought 12 375 count q-tips and it added up to $30 and I did get $27 worth of cat's back.

Sarah, I am peanut buttered up now :) Thanks again.

For those of you who have not had great customer service, I'd definitely send comments in about that and about how they treated you as a couponer.

Ashley said...

so this is what I am thinking that I might try later today (if these are in stock)

2 Dove Shampoo larger size 25 oz I think (4.99)
2 Dove Conditioner larger size 25 oz I think (4.99)
4 500 ct Q-tip (3.00)

Total:
$31.96

I have heard that all of the above are working for both the Unilever deal (spend $30 get $12 back) and the Albies (spend $30 get $15 back)

If it doesn't work I think that I will just return them. We'll see. I am not planning to go in until later today.

LaToya Dieter said...

I don't know why, but I am scared to try the Dove...and how does it work on returns when you've used a Catalina to pay....?

I am a cashier at Albertsons (and a new coupon loving person) so I thought you might like to hear the other perspective. No one, cashiers or management, really mind when people do several transactions for promotions like this. We gain all the money back from the coupons and the catalina are paid for by another company so we love the sales! The only hard part is keeping quantities in stock when a string of coupon ladies come in but the ordering manager is now recognizing the trend and ordering more! :)

LaToya Dieter said...

TIFFANY - - that’s great to hear that YOU feel that way, but I can assure you that there are checkers/stores out there that do NOT. The Albies at Eagle/McMillan is the worst. I think because of their location they will hit numbers so it’s OK for them to hate on and be mean to couponers. I’m glad you see it this way though…..there are bunches of NICE stores and WONDERFUL cashiers out there…just gotta get through the bad ones and find the good ones 

Coupon Crazies said...

I did a late coupon run last night and I typically make 2 trips into the store. On my first trip the cashier told me that if I had more to do, that I could get it ALL at once and he would ring it all up. So I filled 2 baskets and went to his line. I got about $500 worth of groceries and paid less than $15 OOP!! He was sooo wonderful, and even let people come up when they got in line. It took about 1 hour to do, but it was WELL worth every minute just to get it all in one trip! KUDOS to Jon G in Eugene Oregon!!!

LaToya Dieter said...

How far is Eugene from Ada County? Worth the trip! I'd say!!

Well the Suave items and the Dove deodorant (everything that was in Sunday's ad but not in the new Ad that came out starting 8/5) is not included in the $30 promo anymore. (I was told this at my store today so I didn't even try to include the items.) I have had nothing but BAD LUCK with this promo as the two times I've done it with coupons my Cats don't print and the cashiers all blame it on the coupons and the fact that I didn't spend $30 out of pocket. I know this is incorrect because I've talked to the Catalina company who said this was wrong and my mom did a transaction right in front of me and only spent $10 out of pocket and got the Cats so this is totally bogus. I argued with two cashiers at customer service for about 15 minutes today and finally the manager gave me $15 in credit as a rain check. They are also going to call the Catalina company and find out why they didn't print for me and let me know. I did do this once without coupons spending $30 because that's what they told me to do and it did work.

cjphoto2 said...

Beth,
You got bad info. The ad that you're referring to says at the bottom sale 8/2-8/8!! You can still get the Suave and Dove until the 8th FOR SURE. I went tonight and bought it. I did have problems with my cat printing but I went to customer service and they gave me the $15 on a gift card after I showed them the ad.

Beth said...

I'm glad they gave you the $15 that easily. I had to argue for a while with them about it and they wouldn't budge because it wasn't their problem but Catalina's problem. I finally got them to give me a manager who gave me $15 in a rain check and they are going to call Catalina but they were really rude about it. As for the Dove and Suave information they told me that they have had multiple people ask them about it and they have told them all that those items aren't included in the promo anymore so they are giving out lots of bad information, too bad for everyone else.

Tiffany said...

If they are not giving you the catalina coupon or saying it's not their problem, um yes it is.. it's THEIR ad! Anyone who doesn't get it call them back and say a little birdy told you that they have a corporate back up number to force the catalina coupon out. They have to type it in the register three times for all of them to come out. :)

I keep hearing terrible things about the Albertson's on Eagle/McMillan. I stopped there on a whim because I was int the area on Monday...and had a WONDERFUL experience. They had everything but peanut butter, they were super helpful, and Monica and Denny, two cashiers, competed to see who could give me the best service. They were great! I will go back there, definitely!
